Create a solution based assessment protocol.
Lifestyle Fitness has been able to create a solution based assessment protocol, encompassing the foundations of good health, while emphasising the two key elements of work place dysfunction.
Energy, vitality and motivation
It is no secret we live in the age of convenience food, due mainly to the hectic pace of our lifestyles. Instead of making nutrition a priority for performance and lifelong health, many of us rely on other factors such as youth, genetics, drugs, stimulants, tolerance to pain and the desire to succeed to get us through the day. But a poor diet will only succeed short-term, and after youth, desire and drugs eventually wear thin many find themselves on a slippery slope to ill-health.
Where is it we derive our energy from – light, air, water and food of the highest quality possible – our bodies demand this, however the type and quantities are dependant on their biochemical individuality. Even if employees think they eat well, improvements can be made, particularly when there biochemical individuality is addressed.
Without sufficient antioxidants for example, our cells and ultimately our entire body loses its ability to defend against oxidative stress. Many of us have low antioxidant levels due an inadequate diet, stress, pollution, and other lifestyle factors. There is a direct link between free radical damage at a cellular level and ill-health, aging, auto immune problems and many lifestyle diseases. With good nutrition and supplementation even with our busy lifestyles we can increase your antioxidant level and neutralize free radical damage giving greater health and vitality.
Metabolic assessment allows our nutritionists to give an individual nutritional program which consists of nourishing an active body with high quality food, uniquely tailored to each individual, encompassing the correct ratios of macro-nutrients, the correct acid/alkali balance, correct analysis of body composition and current health and metabolic status.
Stress, Pain and Posture
Good posture and bad posture is the difference between looking and feeling young or old, jumping out of bed in the morning or dragging ourselves through another day. Our bodies either work in a functional way or they work in a dysfunctional way. Dysfunction leads to stress on our bodies structure leading to joint problems, headaches, neck, back, knee and shoulder pain, RSI and general discomfort. This leads to inefficiencies in the work place as no one can work efficiently and effectively if they are suffering discomfort.
Our current lifestyles has a detrimental affect on our posture. We sit, to work, drive, relax at night, and then more often curl up in bed in a foetal position. We spend very little time in extension. Unless we counter act this dominant pattern of movement we are left with a body continually under stress from muscular imbalance, joint immobility, tight and taught muscles and dysfunctional patterns of movement. These manifest into various forms of discomfort. Unfortunately too many employees put up with various ailments which affect the ability to work productively. More than often they rely on treating symptoms rather than causes by taking pain killers and other treatments to get them through the day however long term they are not solving or addressing the problem.
A Postural and ergonomic Assessment will enable us to address the cause and what often leads to an employees discomfort at work and help assess what is contributing to there postural stress and dysfunction.
We can then help each employee make changes through better postural awareness, better work station ergonomics, basic stretches and strengthening exercises to achieve better muscular balance and joint mobility creating a more balanced posture and harmony throughout the body.
As we continue to cope with the many subtle and complex stressors of life in the fast lane, be they structural, biochemical or emotional, when a person’s adaptive capacity is exhausted and begins to fail, chronic disease will set in. If we ignore the warning signs or ‘mask’ the symptoms with medication, and leave them untreated, the end result is total breakdown, like a virus left unattended to run rampant in a computer. Virus checks solve the problem almost before it begins, equivalent to practicing preventative health care. We at Lifestyle Fitness teach preventative healthcare addressing causes not symptoms before total melt-down occurs
