Technical Factors
If you want to improve your game and handicap, you are sure to be already getting technique lessons from a golf pro who will be addressing the technical factors that determine the flight and destination of the ball:
- Club face alignment
- Swing path
- Angle of attack / impact
- Speed
- Sweet spot
Physical Aspects
However, in conjunction with your golf pro, Lifestyle Fitness can address the physical aspects of your game to accurately and consistently meet the above five technical factors.
The physical aspects that need to be addressed are:
- Flexibility
- Posture
- Muscle balance
- Stability
- Strength
- Power
- Co-ordination
To enable the body to develop these qualities it needs to be trained in a specific way.
Lifestyle Fitness Golf uses an approach to golf training that is used by many players on the PGA circuit. The key principles of a golf conditioning program are:
- Flexibility
- Stabilization
- Strength
- Power
Why are physical aspects so important?
You may currently have a tendency to slice or hook the ball. Your golf pro will be working on changing your technique; however you may be limited in your ability to change due to inflexibility, posture or muscle balance.
Many golfers overlook conditioning, believing that golf is a technical game and leisure activity rather than an athletic event. Golf is highly athletic, requiring the same level of exertion as softball pitchers who include conditioning as an integral part of their preparation. Lack of conditioning will affect your ability to consistently hit the ball due to muscle fatigue resulting in loss of co-ordination. Along with fatigue comes the increased risk of injury. 53% of male and 45% of female golfers suffer from back pain and almost accept this as part of playing the game.
If you currently have back, shoulder, hip, knee or elbow pain we can help you. Before you get started on a golf program we can have one of our Rehab Trainers work with you so you are able to play pain free.
